Last June, CATEC participated in the XIV National Conference of Materials, the main Spanish scientific forum exclusively devoted to the field of materials, which took place this year in Gijon, in the Polytechnic School of Engineering at Oviedo University. This event, organized through the Spanish Society of Materials (SOCIOMAT), brought together researchers and experts related to this area, with participants from the leading centres of technology and research, and numerous university groups from all around Spain, who presented the latest innovations in projects related to materials.

CATEC has attended this Conference presenting a paper about topology optimization and additive manufacturing focused on some cases of application for the aerospace industry, which was presented by the engineer Laura Berrocal. Specifically, our centre showed the latest research and work successfully achieved for the manufacturing of satellite parts, especially launchers and aircraft applications, mainly developed with titanium 64 and Scalmalloy® through Selective Laser Melting process in collaboration with Airbus Group.

Thanks to this event CATEC has strengthened relationships with other research organizations and the most relevant professionals in the field of materials at a national level, and exchanged knowledge and experience with the attendees.
