A Group of European university engineering students visit CATEC
53 members of the Board of European Students of Technology (BEST), European association which promotes university cooperation in the field of technologies, visited the Centre for Advanced Aerospace Technologies (CATEC) last 11th July with the aim of knowing its facilities destined to the development of new technologies for the aerospace and aeronautical sector.

This activity formed part of the course programme on “Avionics” organized by the Carlos III University of Madrid, under the auspices of the BEST Programme and involved the collaboration of CATEC. During the course of the visit the students witnessed first-handed the main technologies developed in the areas of simulation and software, avionics and unmanned systems, in which CATEC has become an international benchmark with the coordination of several European R&D projects. They also learned about the different models of the UAVs fleet and attended on-site demonstrations of small aircrafts at the “test bed” where planes are tested.

These students participating in the programme come from different universities from France, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Belgium, Aus, Hungry, Holland, Check Republic, Romania, Poland, Russia, Latvia, Serbia, Croatia, Macedonia and Spain. The visit finished at the Airbus Military Crew Training Center, where they learnt about some of the world’s most advanced training facilities for military pilots and technicians and the flight simulators for the C295 and the CN235.
