The Andalusian aerospace industry in 2012 reached a new growth in the field of R&D, as highlighted by the latest statistical study prepared by the Cluster Propeller, corresponding to the last year. Especially in the case of businesses and companies that make up the auxiliary fabric in the community that spent 56.9 millions. Investment in R & D increased approximately by 27 millions of euros compared to 2011, which represented an unusual rise of 90% reaching also the 7.7% of sales in the auxiliary industry.

In this evolution an important role was played again by CATEC that has, among its main objectives, the promotion of R & D in the aeronautical auxiliary industry through the creation of technological knowledge and its transfer to the companies of the same field. In this regard we must emphasize the participation in different projects calls in the regional, national and European field, as well as the intervention in the program Innterconecta, driven by the government of Andalusia, and in which CATEC also participates with other technology centers, universities and community businesses (tractor and SMEs).

The report also highlights, as another reason for this growth in R & D in the Andalusian aerospace sector, the developments associated with the new Airbus A350 XWB program, in which our Center also collaborates. From CATEC we will continue to work to further boost R & D in the Andalusian and national companies during 2013.
