CATEC hosted a conference from the STEPHANIE project to identify factors of interregional cooperation and promote innovation in the space sector
Last January, CATEC facilities hosted a work conference framed within the European project STEPHANIE, where different companies, research centers, and representatives from the Andalusian government attended with aiming to analyze and identify the key factors in interregional cooperation in Andalusia to increase innovation in sectors like space.

The session, organized by our own company, CATEC, started with a presentation on the advances of the STEPHANIE (Space TEchnology with PHotonics for market and societal challenges) project. The project is also a member of the Interreg Europe call, in which CATEC participates. This project’s objectives are to encourage more R+D in observing Earth and space in order to boost the use of space applications linked to photonics and Earth observation, with strong potential in the market and growing capacity to deal with socio-environmental problems in Europe.

The conference included a working session with leaders of different businesses, entities and key organizations in the system of Andalusian innovation and knowledge, like the University of Seville, the Technological Corporation of Andalusia, the Regional Government of Andalusia and companies like AERTEC Solutions, INGEMONT, TTI and Celestia, among others.

In this session they identified good practices to contribute to the promotion of interregional cooperation in funding/financing and the growth of aerospace innovation, how to prioritize and apply them, thus supplementing STEPHANIE’s work. In this sense, the conference served to reinforce good practices and identify possible upgrades, resulting in interregional collaboration. These practices will join to the others thet members of the STEPHANIE project analysed in their second partners meeting, celebrated in Liege, Belgium.
