Favourable reception of CATEC's projects and services in the area of unmanned systems at UNVEX

CATEC besides presenting its pioneering activity in the area of UAS and the centre ATLAS, was in charge of the technical assistance in the course of the day devoted to flights and tests with unmanned aircrafts

Favourable reception of CATEC's projects and services in the area of unmanned systems at UNVEX
UNVEX, the most important international event related to unmanned systems and aircrafts was held in Madrid last 23, 24, 25 and 26 April when our Centre was present one more year and actively participated through several initiatives.

The meeting which had the participation of major national experts and players in this area at institutional, business, Academic and technological level was inaugurated by the Secretary of Defence, Pedro Argüelles and was developed with the objective of presenting the new products and projects in the area of unmanned systems (aerial, ground and marine), as well as knowledge and experience exchange to develop common initiatives among the research participating enterprises and entities.

FADA-CATEC had an exhibition stand where besides presenting its wide knowledge in the area of unmanned aerial systems and latest technological advances and research related to UAVs, one of the Centre's strategic areas. The start of the ATLAS Experimental Flight Centres was also presented; an initiative fostered by FADA-CATEC which will be a reality within the next few months in Jaén.

The event was scheduled in two different parts; the first of them involved a cycle of conferences and round tables divides in three big areas (technology, regulation and legal aspects and operation/applications); and as second part, comprising and flight exhibition with a variety of unmanned aerial vehicles and aircrafts at the aerodrome of Marugán (Segovia). CATEC participated as well in other activities, since in the first of them our scientific director, Aníbal Ollero, gave the speech "UAVs joint opeations in critical environments", in which he highlighted some of the European projects CATEC is leading in this area. Besides as a collaborator, CATEC was also in charge of giving technical assistance in the day devoted to flights and tests with unmanned aircrafts tasting different platforms.

UNVEX was organized by the firm IDS and had the support of the prime companies and entities within the sector such as Cassidian (EADS), Indra, Thales, Navantia, Tekplus Aerospace, CESA, the Secretary of Defence, the business associations TEDAE and AESMIDE, the company Hisdesat, the robotic technological platform HispaRob and the CDTI among others.
