Good news from Le Bourget: CATEC and Safran awarded to jointly develop a test bank for the A350 lever of gas
The Centre for Advanced Aerospace Technologies (CATEC) has been awarded together with the French firm Safran a joint contract for the development of a test bank for testing the lever of gas of the A350 XWB. This is a new project which shows the weight and the technological projection that CATEC has reached at the international aerospace and aeronautical sphere, thanks to the development of new technologies at the service of the world industry.

The agreement of collaboration for the development of this important contract, estimated at 200,000 euro, was undersigned by the Regional Minister of Economy, Innovation and Science of Junta de Andalucía, Antonio Ávila at Le Bourget last June. This test bank for the A350 will manage automatically static and dynamic tests, reducing the total time of testing. The project, which will be integrally developed at Aerópolis FADA-CATEC’s facilities, needs a high specialization in terms of integration and advanced sensors monitoring.

The agreement, signed by the Andalusian Agency for Innovation and Development (IDEA) and Safran involves also the collaboration for the development of the firm in Andalusia, through its subsidiary in Spain, Safran Engineering Services SA (SengS), which plans RDI lines of investments in areas like new technologies for communications, avionics and new materials for aerospace applications. By its side, IDEA will offer support to Safran it its integration in the Andalusian aeronautical cluster and will promote lines of collaboration with Hélice Foundation to train aeronautical engineers.

CATEC’s participation at Le Bourget also reached other interesting results, since the centre was advertised as the best technological allied for the international aerospace companies and a pioneering centre at the cutting edge of European research, what made that many companies, institutions and entities from different countries get interested in knowing its capacities and the most outstanding RDI projects which are currently being developed.

CATEC, which attended the air show together with the Andalusian delegation, presented also the Experimental Flight ATLAS, the first centre in Spain and the third one in Europe devoted exclusively to the experiments with unmanned aircraft vehicles, which is going to be located in Jaén.
