Growing abroad

There is no doubt that CATEC has become one of the most advanced technological centres in Spain and a reference in R&D in Europe, especially in areas such as drones and unmanned systems, robotics and industry 4.0, additive manufacturing (3D printing) or non-destructive inspection, which are already marking the present and future of the aerospace industry and other important productive sectors. And not because we say it, but the results that we have achieved throughout our 11 years of history and professional trajectory talk by themselves.

We announced some days ago a new milestone in the history of FADA-CATEC, and especially in our internationalization and growth process towards foreign markets. This is no other than the first project in the field of technological developments in 3D printing outside the European continent, thanks to the collaboration with the company INVAP Argentina, which means our leap crossing the ocean to Latin America, precisely in an area of great value such as components and parts manufacturing for satellites and launchers for the space sector.

In a year in which precisely the city of Seville is assuming and leading the presidency of the Community of Ariane Cities (CVA), and Andalusia is boosting its growth in the aeronautical sector reached in the last decade, we are convinced that this new CATEC project will contribute to show the high technological and industrial capacity that our industry has and to continue encouraging our companies to keep on on this good path, betting on R&D and high added value activities.

The latest figures for the year 2017 are again clear and consolidate Andalusia as a region that has not stopped growing in turnover, employment and exports in the aerospace sector, and that already faces the future with new challenges and illusions. The new strategic plan of the sector must be a key element in all this, and the base for the Andalusian aerospace sector to continue growing abroad, with the support of all the agents involved and with the R&D and the promotion of innovation as main allies. Only this way will strengthen our position as a of the fastest growing industries in the European and international level, and with better prospects for the coming years.

Our Center has developed in the last weeks an intense activity that has led it to participate in different forums and reference meetings of the aerospace, defense and drones sector, in which it has managed to strengthen its relationship and collaboration with experts and entities of these sectors.

Thus, he participated in the first edition of the SER Meetings on the Defense and Aeronautics industry, organized by the Cadena SER Andalucía on October 2, in collaboration with our FADA, Airbus and Santa Bárbara Foundation, in which leading companies of the sector participated. and representatives of public administrations. In fact, he had the presence of the Secretary of State for Defense of the Government, Angel Olivares, and the Minister of Employment, Enterprise and Commerce of the Junta de Andalucía, Javier Carnero, among others. The meeting included a round table moderated by the president of FADA, Pilar Serrano, who had the participation of managers of the companies Aernnova, Inespasa and AERTEC Solutions, and other presentations by Airbus Defense and Space and General Dynamics Santa Bárbara Systems.

CATEC also had an outstanding participation in the event S-Moving (Smart, Autonomous and Unmanned Vehicles Forum), held in Malaga on October 17 and 18, and brought together the main companies and entities related to the field of mobility and drones from Spain. CATEC attended with its own stand in which we presented our wide range of UAS / RPAS technologies and services for its application and use in different sectors and participated in the program of technical sessions included in the appointment. Specifically, our general director, Joaquín Rodríguez Grau, participated in the round table on "Autonomous vehicles connected as a platform for the collection and processing of data", in which he presented some of our latest drone projects and highlighted the possibilities of This type of vehicles as an excellent platform for the collection and processing of data, in fields such as infrastructure inspection, agriculture and environment and logistics.

Other events
In addition, our center was present in "secuDRone, Technological Drones and Security Applications Conference, which was held on October 4 in Madrid, where our fellow engineer Rafael Caballero, from the Division of Avionics and Systems, intervened explaining the latest innovations and applications that we are developing in terms of the use of unmanned systems (drones) and Artificial Intelligence for their application in surveillance operations'.

We have also attended the presentation of the Innovative Public Procurement Program that the Ministry of Agriculture made within the framework of the FIMART Fair held in Córdoba, and whose objective is to promote innovation through hiring. Finally, we also participated in the H2Orizon 2018 meeting, held at FIBES Sevilla in September, which brought together experts and professionals in water management and technologies. This event included a session on "Innovation in sustainable irrigation: sensors, satellites, drones", which featured a presentation by Antidio Viguria, our head of the Avionics and Systems Division.
