The Center will work with Aernnova to develop new aircraft technologies to the European program Clean Sky 2
CATEC will be one of the research centers that will take part as a partner in the project led by the aerospace company Aernnova in the new European program Clean Sky 2, aimed to investigate the design of a future generation of aircraft more respectful of the environment and whose development will be done in the period 2016-2022.

Aernnova is currently engaged as Core Partner in the Clean Sky 1 program, and next year will deliver the charge to integrate smart wings on the Airbus factory in Tarbes (France). Following this work, the company repeated as Core Partner in Clean Sky 2 where it will face as the main technological challenges to create a leading edge laminar flow hybrid for flight demonstration, develop technologies for high integration of components in composite materials for the external structure fuselage and other to the wing of the aircraft (winglets, etc.).

The program Clean Sky 2 aims to reduce aircraft emissions by 30% and the noise produced by 75%. Also seeks to strengthen the leadership of the European aeronautics sector because of its technological interest and highly skilled jobs creation. In this sense, the participation in the European program will make Aernnova and the collaborating centers of the technological developments take part in the new aircraft for the future, contribute to progress in research and development in the aerospace sector.

CATEC collaborate in this initiative through the area of Materials and Processes.
