Our center has been chosen to host the II ERL Emergency Service Robots competition of the European Robots League (ERL) in February 2019, that will bring together technology and research centers and entities from all over Europe linked to the application of robots in emergency situations.

The event will focus on advanced developments on autonomous capabilities and seamless outdoor/indoor navigation for air and land robots, as these are important milestones to achieve for emergency robotic systems. The first ERL Emergency Robots Tournament held this month will focus on land and maritime robotic systems.

The European Robotics League (ERL) is an innovative concept for robot competitions which stems from its predecessors, the euRathlon and RoCKIn competitions, and focuses on tasks that robots must execute in realistic environments. The ERL is composed of multiple Local Tournaments, held in different locations across Europe, and a few competitions as part of Major Tournaments. Teams participate in a minimum of two tournaments (Local and/or Major) per year and get scores based on their performances. Scores of the best two participations in tournaments for each team are added and teams are ranked based on their cumulative score. Prizes for the top teams are awarded during the next year’s European Robotics Forum (ERF) to be held in 2019.
